You'll still look like you - just a boudoir fantastic version thanks to hours of editing and hollywood effects that are afforded to supermodels the world over. Editing is an enormous part of boudoir. The talent of your photographer/editor is key in keeping you looking natural while bring out the best in you. At the beginning of your session - you'll fill out a short form indicating what you want to flaunt and what you want to hide. Sarah will work with you to understand what you are after.
Often, you'll be totally unaware of all the enhancements - you won't know where redness was removed, arms were slimmed, waist curves were exaggerated, skin was smoothed, skin marks were eliminated, hair shine was added, and eyes were made to sparkle.
Sarah has worked with clients of all shapes and body types - age 18 to 55.. Sexy isn't determined by your age and size, that's for sure. BUT, boudoir is very special in that the editing magazine style really can make the difference you are looking for. Using proportion, smoothing, body contouring, highlighting and lowlighting, and all sorts of tricks - Sarah can produce gorgeous images bring out your best. And, in many cases, those tweaks can take off 10 or more pounds.
So, waiting till that magical weight isn't really necessary. Boudoir is about celebrating yourself - and of course you want to be at your best, but hitting that "ideal" image of yourself really isn't necessary. A talented boudoir photographer editor can pose the image and edit accordingly tobring out the best, and highlight your best assets.
That being said. Everyone sees themselves through their own window, and you might have some insecurities that only you notice. That's why it is important to talk to Sarah about what bothers you most. And, in addition, Sarah gives you such a large batch of images, you are bound to cherish many of them.
Absolutely. On the day of your shoot, you will be given the choice to keep your images private or allow them to be used on the Blinkabella website and promotional materials.
Sarah offers partial eye/lip/cheek makeup application for $20 with optional false lashes ($15). Many clients opt for this option. More information about this will be provided with your 'details' web page (which Sarah sends after you contact her via email). Full makeup options and do it yourself tips also exist on the details page.
Hair for boudoir is not very complicated. Think tousled, roller set, loose waves (channel the Victoria'sSecret Angel in you). And for shorter hair, consider how your hair looks sexiest. And consider false lashes and make sure your makeup is impeccable as your face will really be showcased. More info is available on the details page.
The studio in Milwaukee is located downtown near the lake. Detailed directiosn are provided on the details page sent out via email.
In St Louis, Sessions are held my corner unit apartment (as St Louis is where I live). Located in the Central West End, near the Basilica, it gets great light and is where many of the images in the gallery were taken. Look for 16A in the filenames. The address and parking directions are included on the details page given via email.
Planning ahead and scheduling well before your "need by" date will afford Sarah the time to really focus on editing your images and create a larger batch. If you desire a book - scheduling 6-18 weeks prior to your need by date is best. Remember, your images have to be uploaded, sorted, edited (20 hours), uploaded to the gallery, selected by you for book inclusion, page designed, printed, and shipped. And with offering all of her clients so many edited images - things can get hectic for Sarah (just ask her husband).
And Milwaukee ladies, remember Sarah only makes monthly visits to her studio - so things can fill up fast.
For deposits (which are $100), I accept checks and money orders. At your session, I accept cash, checks, and money orders.
Payment plans are available. You pay the $100 deposit within 7 days of booking. And instead of paying your full balance on the session day, you pay at least 50% of balance on the session day. Then the remaing balance must be paid prior to the online unveil of your gallery. Payment plans are subject to a $5 service fee for the additional processing.
Not unless you really really want to see a few. Sarah can and does provide an example or two for some clients but prefers to not share before images. It's usually a frightening experience for anyone (celebs included). Skin softening, blemish removal, wrinkle decreasing, a pinch here, arm thin there really makes a difference and can change an image you would have ripped into shreds one you might want to hang on your bedroom wall for all to see. This is why Sarah goes through your sessions images and pics an enormous batch to beautify for you. And, from that big batch, you can select you favorites for the book or for printing.
You can bring a female friend, but I strongly strongly strongly advise against it.
Having an onlooker can help clients feel more confident when knocking on the door and first arriving- but after that they serve as a large distraction in the boudoir process. Boudoir is a really fun process, but part of the magic of the session is the magic that comes out of you in the "modeling" process and that spark is greatly hindered by having someone watch you try to look sexy.
True - Sarah's there - but you'll never see her again and this is something she does multiple times a week. Having someone you know at your session is someone there who will be there just watching you...but also judging you - judging your poses, your "sexy" look, and so on. Sarah's seen a lot of clients make fun of themselves more in front of friends and feel even more uneasy...even if only a little. Even a best friend serves as a distraction for your eyes. So, yes you can - but if you can muster the courage (and most girls can), definitely come solo. :)
In the consideration of group shoots vs. individual ...
Group shoots can be a lot of fun - but I find that many girls actually harbor more nerves and find it a bit more difficult to relax and really "model" in front of their gal pals. Beautiful pics come out of both situations - but individual shoots usually bring out the extra special magic. It's easier to act sexy (while giggling and laughing) with a person you will never see again. For this reason, Sarah recommends individual or double shoots only.
Doubld shoots work similar to individual shoots as often while one client is changing the other is shooting and so on...but if you are after the best images possible - go for an individual shoot.
Group discounts are available if you and at least 2 friends book and submit deposits. You'll save 5% off of the session investment rate.
There is a really fun thing you can do as a group even when you have individual shoots. Sarah can unveil all of your images at the same time online in their galleries. You could view them all together with champagne and hors d'oeuvres.
